On 13th August follwoing several weeks of hot weather, Merstham village was engulfed by not one, but two successive thunderstorms only a few minutes apart. Described as a once in a 100 year event, the school suffered catastrophic flooding. Approximately 80% of the school has been affected.
In September, only three classes have been able to return to the Merstham Primary School site. The children in the other classes have been able to school across three different site - Lime Tree Primary School, Merstham Park Secondary and the neighbouring Chart Wood site.
On November 2nd all the school will finally be on one site. 45% of the school will be hosted in temporary classrooms on the playground, whilst the main building is refurbished.
